At Independence Aviation we take Pilot Safety to the next level. Our UPRT curriculum teaches how best to avoid the most dangerous of flying situations, recognition when inadvertently encountered, and how best to recover. This is not an aerobatics course…but feel free to ask for a loop or two.
FAA Loss of Control Note
According to the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) Fact Sheet on General Aviation (GA) Safety, loss of control in-flight (LOC-I) is the number one cause of aviation fatalities. An LOC-I accident involves an unintended departure of an aircraft from a controlled flight, and may quickly develop into a stall or spin (i.e. upset). LOC-I is often a surprise to the pilot as it happens in all phases of flight, and it can happen anywhere and at any time. Our goal is to help students understand the causes of upsets that can lead to LOC-I, learn to recognize and avoid them and, when necessary, recover from them.
This course will introduce you to the edge of flight that you want to avoid when flying a non-aerobatic piston aircraft.
You will be shown that edge and how best to recover when you cross it. This will include accelerated stalls, spins, and other maneuvers that deliberately put the Extra 330 aircraft in an unusual attitude similar to what could happen in the aircraft you fly.
You will then practice correctly recovering the aircraft into level, unaccelerated flight. By the end of the course, you will have enhanced your skills to instinctively and confidently avoid and better manage unusual attitudes.
