Independence Aviation’s Coronavirus Update:

DATE: 1Aug 2020

TO: IA’s friends, clients, and team

SUBJECT: The Coronavirus, COVID19 – Independence Aviation Update – Phase 3

The precautions we have taken as a society and nation appear to have had a positive impact on the nation’s health.  That’s a good thing.  Regardless, we will re-double our efforts to keep our staff and friends as safe and healthy as we possibly can while we all get back in the air and use aviation for our pleasure and travel.

The following operational considerations remain in place:

  • While in IA’s offices, staff and clients will be required to wear masks if social distance, six feet of separation, cannot be maintained.  This includes ground, sim, and flight instruction.

  • While receiving flight or sim instruction, the CFI and client will be required to wear masks.

  • Prior to receiving flight or ground instruction or renting our aircraft, our clients will be required to sign a waiver of liability for IA for any illness or affliction resulting from Covid-19 exposure.

  • Employees, clients, and visitors will be required to attest to their general health and that they have not been exposed to Covid-19.

  • We will require a minimum of one hour of elapsed time between flights in a specific aircraft to allow our staff time to properly clean the aircraft prior to re-launch.

  • Our policy of wiping down frequently touched items will continue.

  • We will continue the policy of not renting headsets, cannulas, oxygen masks for the duration of the pandemic situation.

If you have ANY cold or flu like symptoms, PLEASE do not come to the airport.  If you present with any cold or flu like symptoms, we will deny you the use of our facilities.  The risk of becoming ill or making others ill with associated implications of the coronavirus, is simply too great.  Be thoughtful of when and where you fly to avoid spreading the virus, bringing it home, or being stranded in a quarantine.  Let’s help each other stay healthy and keep flying
